YCD News – Amazon is launching a new artificial intelligence image generation tool for advertisers to generate backgrounds based on product descriptions and themes. The e-commerce giant said it is currently testing the tool with selected advertisers and will continue to train and improve the tool based on customer feedback.
To use the tool, advertisers need to upload a photo, enter a description of the image that describes the background they want, then select a theme and click “Generate”. After waiting a few seconds, the advertiser gets a set of images. Advertisers can also refine the image by entering short text prompts, while creating and testing multiple versions to find the one they’re most comfortable with.
According to a survey conducted by Amazon in March 2023, nearly 75 percent of advertisers who were unable to run successful campaigns cited crafting ad creative and choosing creative formats as the biggest challenges they faced.
Amazon said the new tool is designed to remove creative barriers and enable brands to produce lifestyle images that will help improve the effectiveness of their ads – in the case of a toaster, for example, advertisers typically use a white background to display the product, but by adding a lifestyle scene (a toaster on the kitchen counter) using the AI image generation tool, they can increase the click-through rate of the product by up to 40%.
Colleen Aubrey, Amazon’s senior vice president of ad products and technology, said the new tools will make it easier for advertisers who are financially or technically supported to create branded product master images, while it will help brands on a larger scale build more effective creative ads.
YCD has learned that Amazon has been stepping up its use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in recent months. Previously, this Amazon technology launched a new tool to help sellers write product descriptions. And, it also uses AI to summarize customer reviews.
