According to the Digital 2023 report, during 2022, 94.8% of global Internet users connected to chat and instant messaging platforms (95.6% in 2021), accessed social networks at 94.6% (95.2% in 2021), 81.1% accessed Web search engines (83.6% in 2021), 76% accessed shopping-related sites ( 58.1% in 2021), and 55% (56.9% in 2021) accessed mapping and location services.

Global Selling Leads to Twice as Many Visits as Amazon

Alibaba Group’s e-commerce has made a stunning leap in the rankings and now ranks seventh among the world’s most trafficked sites, although it is still far from the undisputed leader, Google.com. Global Selling is the first e-commerce site in the table with almost twice as many visits as Amazon, which ranks thirteenth in the world’s highest number of visits.

Social network tops the list of most visited websites in the world
The report shows that Internet users spent an average of 11 minutes and 09 seconds-21 seconds browsing Google, 87.1 billion fewer times than in 2021. In the case of YouTube, the average time it took to capture users’ attention was 21 minutes and 32 seconds, down about 10 seconds from last year. 19.4 billion visits were made to Facebook, with an average time spent of 9 minutes and 58 seconds (down for the second year in a row).

Twitter has held the fourth spot at the top of the list in recent months with an average user dwell time of 10 minutes and 45 seconds (just one second more than 2021) and a total of 6.91 billion views. Meanwhile, Instagram posted an average view time of 7 minutes and 46 seconds (5 seconds more than 2021).

The most searched words on Google in 2022

Based on data collected from January 2022 to December 2022, “Google” and “YouTube” were positioned as the most searched terms. “Vídeo” did not even make the list in 2021, but soared to third place in 2022. “Facebook” drops from second place in 2021 to fourth place in 2022. The word “weather” remains in fifth place, “translation” in sixth, and “WhatsApp” in seventh. “Amazon” is in ninth place, “Instagram” is in tenth, and “Whats App Web” drops two spots to 11th.
