U.S. e-commerce platform Q3 order changes: Amazon surges, Shopify flat

YCD News – Extensiv, a warehousing, inventory management services provider, has released its Q3 2023 U.S. e-commerce platform insights, with data based on thousands of brands using Extensiv products to process orders, revealing changes in order volume from each platform.

The data shows that Amazon’s third-party seller order volume continues to grow quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year, and is growing strongly. While Shopify’s order volume remained the same as other third-party marketplaces, the difference is that Shopify’s sales revenue growth is gaining momentum, indicating increased demand for its higher-priced items.

In the third quarter, Amazon third-party sellers saw a 21% increase in average sales volume from the second quarter and 76% year-over-year growth, Extensiv data shows. In the second quarter, third-party sellers accounted for 60% of Amazon’s total sales, and Amazon’s third-party seller service revenue was $322, up 18% year-over-year, according to MarketplacePulse.
